This special meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by Sherry;
and on the agenda was to discuss the possibility of the town purchasing a BOMAG
resurfacing machine.
Don Cook explained the details of the machine and the
purchase agreement: Basically, the BOMAG machine is a large scale rototiller
for the roads. This machine would grind up the surfacing of the road and mix it
with new material in order to more efficiently resurface the roads and fill pot
holes. Without the machine, the highway crew is simply filling pot holes with
crushed stone and as time and weather wears on this “quick fix”, the pot hole
simply reappears.
The machine Don found to purchase is used, but has recently
been serviced and comes with spare tires. It is located in South Carolina at
Tripp Machinery and Supply and the price, including delivery to Pinckney is
$29,500.00. It was suggested and agreed upon that the money would come from the
highway department CHIPS fund initially because bonding from the equipment fund
would take too long. Then when FEMA and Extreme Weather Conditions refunds are
received, approximately $16,000, that part can be refunded.
Resolution 66-2015 – SEE
ATTACHED
Bob Amidon made a motion to pass
this resolution, Dan Pearson seconded it and after being polled by the Clerk,
all of the board was in favor.
Secondly, Sherry announced to the board that Sue Townsend has
offered the town the first chance to purchase her property which is adjacent to
the town barn, thus, a highly desirable piece of land for the town. After
discussion, the board all agreed upon having the town attorney put together a
purchase offer for $38,000; an amount that was suggested by the town assessor,
Cindy Shaw.
Resolution
67-2015 – SEE ATTACHED
Bob Amidon made a motion, and Sandi
Dunn seconded his motion to pass this resolution. Megan Vincent-Olmstead polled
the town board and all responded “yay” to writing up a purchase offer for
$38,000.
The final order of business was the idea of the town funding
another “mifi” wireless internet device for use by the Town Clerk since her
office is in her home. There were no oppositions from the board members.
At 7:50pm, Bob Amidon motioned to adjourn the meeting; Dan
Pearson seconded.
